Is My Plumbing Problem An Emergency?

November 19, 2019 by Boris Mechanical

Leaking pipes, frozen pipes, snapped off faucets that are spraying water everywhere, and other similar situations are considered emergencies. This is especially true if you don't know how to shut the water off.

When you’re standing in your kitchen staring at a sink that won’t drain or your little one tells you that someone accidentally flushed baby brother’s teddy bear down the toilet, is it an emergency?

Angie’s List draws the line between plumbing emergency in NYC and non-emergency based on whether or not you have water actively running into your home. Leaking pipes, frozen pipes, snapped off faucets that are spraying water everywhere, and other similar situations are considered emergencies. This is especially true if you don’t know how to shut the water off.

Obviously, the more water you have leaking, the bigger the emergency. In any instance where enough water has leaked that it has flooded the room, it’s an emergency. Call your emergency plumber right away.

Can You Live With the Problem?

Sometimes, defining what is and is not a plumbing emergency is a little more personal. If your family absolutely needs the clogged toilet fixed before the morning, call the NYC emergency plumber. The same is true for sinks that won’t drain, or a water heater that isn’t working the way you want it to.

Some issues are true plumbing emergencies that require immediate attention. If you’re having any kind of difficulty with your home heating system, it’s important to call your NYC plumber right away. This is especially vital during the cold months. If you have children or elderly family members, keeping them warm is a top priority.

Frozen and burst pipes are absolutely plumbing emergencies. You’ll want to call your NYC emergency plumber right away. If there’s any flooding as a result of your pipes freezing, do not walk in the water! There’s a very real risk of injury, electrocution, or other accident. If your pipes have frozen and then thawed, you may notice multiple small leaks. This happens subsequent to the pipes freezing, and you’ll want to have your NYC plumber address them before your property suffers any damage.
