Finding a NYC Plumbing Contractor for Residential & Commercial Remodels

June 23, 2017 by Boris Mechanical

Whether you’re upgrading the kitchen or bathroom in your home, are a building manager doing unit renovations, or have commercial properties that are being redone, you will need a NYC plumbing contractor. But how do you know which plumbing contractor is right for your unique job?

The very first thing you need to look for is licensing. City building codes require all plumbing work to be done by a licensed NYC plumbing contractor. You’re not going to be able to get your renovations approved or insured if just anyone does your plumbing work. If you’re not sure if a plumbing contractor you’re considering is actually licensed, you can check their information by visiting this site provided by the city.

Your second criteria when choosing a NYC plumbing contractor should be experience. Your property is important to you and you want to make sure that all plumbing work, whether it’s new construction or renovating existing plumbing, is done to the highest standards. Plumbing is a field where experience matters. A Licensed Master Plumber in NYC has to have a minimum of seven years experience, with an additional requirement of spending years working under the direct supervision of a Master Plumber or other trade professional.

Finally, you need to consider the scope of the project you’re doing and whether the NYC plumbing contractor you’re considering does that kind of work. Some plumbers specialize in residential work, while others focus on commercial projects. Many do as we do, and handle both types of projects. It’s always a good idea to check.

If you’re working with a general contractor, they may recommend a particular NYC plumber based upon their previous experience working together. These recommendations are often valuable, but remember, it’s your property and you have final say on who works there. Interview and comparison shop as you see fit until you find a licensed NYC plumbing contractor you’re comfortable with!
