NYC Building Owners: Bathroom Amenities Tenants Love

May 27, 2017 by Boris Mechanical

The NYC housing market has always been highly competitive. Attracting quality tenants to your property is easier when you’re really proud of what your building has to offer. We’ve talked to some urban developers lately who have found that the type and quality of bathroom fixtures can influence buyers’ decisions.

Bathrooms must be beautiful as well as functional.

The days where the bathroom was a place to shower and … well, you know … are long behind us. Today’s homebuyers are seeking bathrooms that look good. Sink basins are a focal point. Look for basins with thin lips and elegant lines. There are many different color choices available for bathroom sinks, but white continues to be the most popular.

When it comes to bathroom sink faucets, have your NYC plumber install a faucet that has clean, sculptural lines. Chrome is making a comeback as a popular finish. It looks very clean, which is appreciated by potential home buyers. Look for touchless models: while the technology is still relatively new, touchless faucets are rapidly becoming a must have feature.

Going Green Means Saving Water & Using Natural Materials

Most bathroom renovations include replacing the toilet. Have your NYC plumber install a high efficiency toilet, preferably one that is comfort-height. Comfort height toilets are a few inches taller than the traditional design. They’re ideal for anyone who has balance or joint pain issues, and are preferred by homeowners who are getting older.

When it comes to finish, look for natural materials, including bamboo and slate. The trend in tile is long and narrow – a twist on the subway tile trend – in one dominant color accented with contrasting bands.
