Bathroom upgrades are near the top of many NYC homeowner’s 2021 wish list. One of the most essential elements in any bathroom is the toilet. And today’s toilets aren’t the basic models your grandparents were familiar with.
Today’s best luxury toilets include features like bidet wands, heated seats, and dryers. Some luxury toilets are illuminated – makes it easy to use the bathroom in the middle of the night – as well as peace-keeping automatic lids.
Luxury toilets can also be environmentally responsible, with water-metering dual flush features that help protect the planet. Dual flush toilets give the user to use less water for the majority of flushes and more water for the flushes that need it. It’s good for the planet and for your water bill.
Self-flushing toilets – featuring the same functionality you may see in the restroom at your gym, favorite restaurant or shop – are now increasingly popular for residential applications. Many people prefer the hands-free use experience, as it’s more sanitary.
Tips for Choosing a Luxury Toilet
As New York City plumbers, if there’s one thing we want you to know about choosing a luxury toilet is that the seat is often sold separately – and it’s pretty tricky to use your toilet without a seat! So please be aware of this fact when planning your bathroom renovation.
Understanding how tall your toilet is can be tricky. It sounds like Standard toilets and Universal toilets should be the same height – but they’re really, really not. A standard height toilet is the older style, which would be at most 15 inches from seat to floor, whereas a universal height toilet is between 17 to 19 inches tall. Universal height toilets are sometimes called comfort height toilets. This is because they’re easier to use, particularly if you have back, hip or knee problems.
