Why Does The Toilet Never Stop Running?

June 13, 2022 by Boris Mechanical

As plumbers in Queens, we hear lots of questions about toilets. In this article, we’re going to cover the most common concerns people have about their toilets, including:

Why does the toilet never stop running?

Why does my toilet sweat?

Why does my toilet clog all of the time?

Why does the toilet never stop running?

A toilet that runs all the time is annoying to live with. It can also cause your water bill to go up – and at a time when everyone wants to save money that’s bad news. Luckily, most of the time this is an easy fix. The toilet runs all of the time when the flush mechanism in the back of the toilet isn’t adjusted properly. This is a fairly easy DIY fix, but if you don’t want to deal with it on your own, your local plumber can fix the toilet for you!

Why does my toilet sweat?

Your toilet isn’t working out at the gym. So why is it sweating? The answer is often humidity. Bathrooms in New York City tend to be both small and poorly ventilated. Throw in all the moisture that comes from using a shower, for example, and you wind up with a space that’s much too humid. Because the toilet’s porcelain surface is cool, the humidity condenses into water droplets on the surface. Your toilet looks like it’s sweating. One easy fix – a dehumidifier to remove excess moisture from the air. Another option: exhaust fans.

Why does my toilet clog all of the time?

Toilet clogs are messy and frustrating. It’s even worse when the situation starts occurring regularly. In cases of persistent toilet clogs, we’ve found one of two things generally occurs. The first is that there’s a household member flushing items inappropriately. Sometimes this is a completely innocent mistake, such as when feminine hygiene products get flushed. These items swell up and clog the pipes. When the behavior changes, the plumbing problems stop.

The second, and more common reason, is that the sewer drain pipe needs cleaning. Waste materials build up in pipes over the course of time. Your local plumber can perform drain cleaning and you’ll see the persistent toilet clogging issue resolve.
