Choosing the Right Kitchen Faucet for Your NYC Home

May 6, 2016 by Boris Mechanical

If you’re renovating or upgrading the kitchen in your home, one thing you may be doing is having your NYC plumber install a new sink and faucet. But what type of faucet is best? Answering that question depends on what style sink you choose, as well as how you cook – today’s faucets feature some nifty features that are of interest to the serious cook.

If you’re having your NYC plumber install a single bay kitchen sink, choose a faucet that features a long spout or a pull-out spray spout. With a double bay sink, you need a faucet that can swivel to fill both bays, or an overhead pull-down spout. Faucets and fixtures are generally sourced separately from sinks, but the two are often displayed together. Take pictures in showrooms or during home events of faucets you like to guide your eventual faucet selection.

Another issue to keep in mind when selecting a kitchen sink faucet is the finish you have on kitchen cabinet knobs, drawer pulls and other hardware, as well as lighting fixtures. Keeping all of the finishes in alignment is the classic approach; some decor specialists like to mix things up. The choice is yours.

Finally, think about how you cook. If you don’t cook, or prepare meals only sporadically, then focus on a faucet that delivers the spray and intensity to take care of everyday cleanup. But if you do a lot of cooking, talk to your NYC plumber about a faucet with a sweeping spray head that efficiently guides food scraps into your disposal. Instant hot water faucets are blissful for the tea fanatic. And if you’re regularly getting really messy – cooking or otherwise – ask about a touchless faucet that turns on with a gesture.
