Leaks That Don’t Involve Equifax

September 7, 2017 by Boris Mechanical

Right now, the word ‘leak’ is provoking nervous thoughts about identity theft and online security for a whole lot of people. Those aren’t the people we’re talking to here. Instead, we want to focus on another type of leak – the type that can occur underneath your kitchen sink, or in your shower, or even hidden inside your walls. Kitchen appliances can leak, particularly refrigerators with ice makers and dishwashers. In the laundry area or utility room, there may be leaking sinks or leaking washing machine water supply lines. All of these leaks are best addressed by a plumber in NYC.

Sometimes people ignore a small leak because they believe it is no big deal. Here’s what happens when you do that: first, the leak will completely fail to fix itself. Leaks don’t just go away on their own. In fact, in many cases, a small leak can grow into a larger one, causing more water loss and damage. Water can cause so much damage to your home: wallboard, flooring, and even your possessions can get wrecked.

If a significant leak suddenly appears, shut off the water supply to that area of your home and call a plumber in NYC. This is also what you should do if your pipes freeze and burst – a situation that occurs during the cold winter. Depending on the severity of the sudden leak, you may have a significant amount of water in your home or basement. It’s important to stay out of flooded areas: they present a safety hazard, including the risk of electrical shock.

Sometimes it is clear there’s a leak in the home, but no one is exactly sure where the leak is. A NYC plumber can help find the source of a leak, and then effect necessary repairs. Remember: if you discover a leak, call your plumber for repair service promptly.
