3 Questions to Ask NYC Plumbers

July 28, 2017 by Boris Mechanical

When you need plumbing repairs, you want to be sure that the NYC plumbers you’re working with are the best professionals available. Here are 3 questions to ask any plumber before you hire them to work on your home or business:

1) Are You Licensed and Insured?

This is your critical starting point! NYC building regulations require major plumbing repairs and all new plumbing installation, such as the work needed to renovate a kitchen or bathroom, be performed by licensed NYC plumbers. Any plumber you consider should be able to provide their license number, which you can verify with the city if you have any doubts. Insurance is another major issue: you want to make sure the plumber you work with is properly covered.

2) Do you have experience doing this type of repair?

Whether you’re having a clogged drain cleared, a leaking faucet replaced, a new shower unit installed, or any other plumbing repair, you want to know that the people working on your home’s plumbing have experience with that type of job. Licensed NYC plumbers go through extensive training and apprenticeships which addresses most common plumbing issues. If you have a particularly unique issue, it’s certainly relevant to ask if they’re prepared to deal with it.

3) When can you be here?

New Yorkers are among the busiest people on the planet, and let’s be real – no one likes to wait. This is especially true if you have a plumbing emergency! Some NYC plumbers offer 24 hour emergency service – which is what you want when you have burst pipes, the heat has stopped working, or other critical issues. When you don’t need emergency plumbing repairs but work still needs to be done, you want NYC plumbers who can work with your schedule. This isn’t always an option, but a good plumber will do their best to work with you as much as possible.
