“I am not a handy person. I have no mechanical skills whatsoever,” Janet said. “But I figured unclogging the kitchen sink wasn’t exactly rocket science. I’ve got this drain cleaning stuff from the hardware store, I’ve got a plunger, how hard can it be?”
After carefully following the drain cleaning product directions, including a lengthy waiting time, Janet was less than thrilled with the results. “Maybe a few drops of water went down the drain,” she explained, “but the majority of that nasty mess was still there.” She called her NYC plumber for help.
The truth is that there are a number of reasons why a sink drain can clog. In Janet’s case, it was her kitchen sink where the issue occurred. There, you tend to run into grease-based clogs, as well as obstructions caused by other food materials. “I’m a vegetarian,” Janet said, “so I was pretty sure that grease wasn’t the issue.” Vegetables such as squash and pumpkin, which have stringy, sticky textures, can definitely contribute to drain clogs.
Not every clog-causing material responds equally well to commercial drain cleaning chemicals. Some obstructions will linger long after the chemical is deployed. In those instances, having your NYC plumber perform drain cleaning is the best route to take. All types of clogs can be quickly and efficiently removed, opening up your pipes again and getting ready of any nasty, unsightly messes.
“And let’s face it,” Janet said. “There are a lot more fun ways to spend your evening than dealing with a clogged up sink. The plumber comes in, the job’s done before you know it, and life gets back to normal.” She smiled. “Sounds good to me!”
